i dont know a lot about the song you want to play but it depends if u have any background in music. if u do it will be alot easier but will still require some practice

Any song takes practice, and stuff like Jack Johnson and Tenacious D are pretty intermediate for a beginner.

For somebody who doesn’t want to work alot at it, a good song in my opinion that’s always fun to play is “Hotel California” by the Eagles. That was my breaking-in song next to “More Than Words” by Extreme.

A nice Jack Johnson song I think you could possibly learn is “Banana Pancakes”. Its a nice little tune with some nice complexity to it.

Tabs or tablature for those can be easily found. Just hit up Google or Ultimate-guitar.com, two great resources I know of.

Just remember, practice always make perfect =D

Well, you might be in for a disappointment. Learning guitar does take dedication at first. It isn’t that hard to learn, but for the first month or so of learning, you will just be developing finger and hand strength. Your fingertips will get sore from the strings and you have to practice through all the blisters until you have callouses. Playing guitar isn’t something you can just learn how to do in a week, it takes months, sometimes over a year, of practice to get decent.

But, don’t let that discourage you. Like I said, once your fingers are strong, you will start learning pretty quick. Tenacious D uses easy, basic chords for the rhythm guitar parts, so that is a good start. Jack Johnson might be a bit harder.

    Good luck.

No, you won’t be able to play without much practice. There is not much point to buying an instrument if you don’t intend to learn how to play it properly. The guitar is a tough instrument, and if you can’t be bothered to learn how to play it well, then do what everybody else in the same position – get a keyboard.

You will able to play anything immediately. Of course no one will know what it is, and your fingers will start to hurt like h*** after a few minutes, or less. If you can not devote yourself, then you were not made to play the guitar. I’ve been playing since the 60s.

Remember playing an instrument is not like a video game. Video games are ment to be won gutiar is ment to be learned! Learning doen’t just mean playing you alson need to learn to care for the instrument! Get lessons go to your local music store not something like guitar center or chain store and have them work with you so you learn the real Guitar not just licks that get you no where!!
