Product Description

The Gretsch G6128T-GH George Harrison Custom Shop Tribute Duo Jet is a stunning replica of the guitar played by George Harrison as seen on legendary early footage of the Beatles performing at Liverpool's Cavern Club; where the group played from February 1961 to August 1963. Georges prized instrument of choice was a black 1957 Gretsch 6128 Duo Jet, serial number 21179, with a Bigsby vibrato unit. The guitar is clearly visible in the footage. After acquiring the guitar in the summer of 1961, Harrison used this guitar almost exclusively during the historic three-year span when the Beatles parlayed their local fame into legendary status. This guitar is heard on the Beatles' debut album, Please Please Me, and the song of the same name that was their first number-one hit. After retiring this guitar in 1963, he gave the guitar to his close friend Klaus Voorman, (who is famous for designing the Beatles Revolver album cover, and later became the bassist for John Lennons Plastic Ono Band). A quarter-century later he re-acquired this legendary guitar and used it for his acclaimed 1987 solo album Cloud Nine; as also seen on the now iconic cover art.The body is carved from mahogany, and is chambered for improved tonality and weight relief; and is capped with a 3-ply Maple Top. The neck is carved from mahogany with a rosewood fretboard and a comfortable 9 radius. The electronics feature a pair of DynaSonic Single-Coil Bridge and Neck Pickups, Custom Made by Seymour Duncan. You will be able to relive these legendary sounds in your own hands. The vintage style tuners and the Bigsby B6C vibrato tailpiece perfectly complete the vibe. The G6128T-GH George Harrison "Tribute" Duo Jetof which only 60 will be mademirrors every scratch, ding, worn finish patch and rust spot of Harrison's guitar. Product Description

Frozen in time for more than 40 years after the tragic car crash that took his life, the one-and-only modified Gretsch G6120 guitar owned by the late, great rock-n-roll pioneer, Eddie Cochran, is now available in limited quantities from the Gretsch Custom Shop. Built by Gretsch master luthier, Stephen Stern, and his team, and replicated from Eddie's original guitar that resides at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. Only 50 Cocharan Tribute guitars will be produced worldwide. During his all-too brief life and career, Eddie Cochran (1938-1960) only ever owned and played one main electric guitar, an orange Gretsch 6120 Chet Atkins hollow-body he bought brand-new in 1955 at age 16 from the Bell Gardens Music Center in his hometown, Bell Gardens, Calif. The guitar bore the serial number 16942, and his parents helped him buy it. A sharp young guitarist who was particular about his sound and knowledgeable about guitar design and modification, Cochran hot-rodded his Gretsch with a warmer-sounding "dog ear" neck pickup. It was this guitar that accompanied Cochran on his rise to stardom. It was this guitar that Cochran played on hits such as "Summertime Blues," "Twenty Flight Rock," "C'mon Everybody," "Somethin' Else" "Nervous Breakdown" and "Sittin' in the Balcony," which influenced generation of guitarists-and guitar royalty-to come. And it was this guitar that was in the trunk of the car on the April 1960 night that Cochran met his tragic and untimely fate on a winding rural road in Chippenham, England. Virtually indistinguishable from the original, the Gretsch Custom Shop G6120EC Eddie Cochran Tribute model is authentic in every detail, from the aluminum nut and bridge to the famous "dog ear" neck pickup; from the distressed vintage orange nitrocellulose lacquer finish to the relic gold-plated hardware and Bigsby B6GPVF vibrato tailpiece.
